Carlton Busko began his medical career in 1975, graduated from Hahnemann University in 1979, and subsequently completed his medical residency at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia and Penn State’s Milton Hershey Medical Center in Hershey. He developed a full service medical center in Northern Lancaster County and served as senior partner and CEO until he sold the center to a local hospital in 1998 and left the practice in 1999. The family medicine center consisted of nine practitioners and 25,000 patients, as well as virtually all local specialties working in a full service environment. Subsequently, Carl followed his personal interest and spent several years researching and studying biomedical science, alternative and complementary medicine, metabolic cellular anatomy and physiology and metabolic testing procedures. Starting in 2003 he began a practice with his wife, Barbara Moore Busko, which primarily seeks to discover and eliminate the causes of disease and help a body restore itself and its health as much as possible. He customizes and specifically tailors an approach to each individual and their problems. Treatment includes modification of diet, utilization of appropriate nutrients as determined through metabolic testing, along with blood, hormone, and other testing as needed. With each patient he determines the need for a single or team approach, including such modalities as acupuncture, psychotherapy, detoxification, conventional medicine, and herbal therapy. He often coordinates or becomes an advocate for a patients’ care, supporting their specific needs. He enjoys hanging around great food, conversation, friends, family and pets as well as tinkering with machinery of all sorts.
